So the one incredible
thing

in life
was finding
falling
in love
with her.

I sit now
cutting her picture
into pieces
tearing it
would be too
brutal.

This year’s theme for Black History month is “African Americans and the Vote.” 2020, an important election year, is also a landmark for voting rights. 2020 marks the 150th anniversary of the Fifteenth Amendment (1870) which gave black men the vote.

First Born Homo Sapiens

Homo sapiens idaltu (“elder/first born”), Herto Man, is a number of early modern human fossils found in 1997 in Ethiopia. They date to around 160,000 years ago. The fossils establishes that modern human morphology does indeed initially appear in Africa.
