This year’s theme for Black History month is “African Americans and the Vote.” 2020, an important election year, is also a landmark for voting rights. 2020 marks the 150th anniversary of the Fifteenth Amendment (1870) which gave black men the vote.

First Born Homo Sapiens

Homo sapiens idaltu (“elder/first born”), Herto Man, is a number of early modern human fossils found in 1997 in Ethiopia. They date to around 160,000 years ago. The fossils establishes that modern human morphology does indeed initially appear in Africa.

African Americans are an ethnic group with total or partial ancestry from any of the black racial groups of Africa. Today, those descendants continue to be treated as thought they are enslaved or part of the “American Economic Chain Gang.”
