Slavery

United Nations General Assembly resolution adopted on March 25, 2026, concerning the transatlantic trafficking of enslaved Africans and racialized chattel enslavement.

The UN officially titled it:

“Declaration of the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans and Racialized Chattel Enslavement of Africans as the Gravest Crime against Humanity.”

The General Assembly declared those practices to constitute “the gravest crime against humanity.” The vote was 123 in favor, 3 against, and 52 abstentions. The United States voted against the declaration.
